can a girl be an umpire for a pro. baseball team?

NOBODY, male or female, can be an umpire for a pro baseball TEAM. Teams don't hire umpires, Major League Baseball does. It would be pretty bad to have a team paying the umpire, ya know? Wouldn't look too good :)

That said, women can umpire in Major League Baseball. Some women have actually umpired Minor League games.

im not sure. it wouldnt be bad. guys might be scared to hurt the girl if they throw the ball to her. im not sexist. girls can play baseball.
 
Yes, anyone can try for an umpires position. The process of becoming an umpire is really tough. Umpiring school is apparently VERY selective, I remember something like only 3-5 people graduate a year.

You know what, I have no idea, I don't know if any felmale as tried to do so, but not really for any team. It seems to me that umpires are assigned series, or I don't know how they are picked to work the series they do. One series they met to Chicago Cubs and New York Mets, next could be Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals.
 
You do not umpire for a team you work for a league or MLB. There have been female umpires in the minor leagues before. There are several umpire schools in Florida. You have to go to one of them to get into affiliated baseball.
