Can a DSi game be played on the DS Lite?

I want a straight foward answer from someone who has real experience on buying a DSi game and using it on a DS, cause' the answers on some questions are so confusing. Also, if you have proof, can you show it?
 
There's no such thing as a DSi game. If it's a game card that can fit into a DSi, it can fit into a DS.

There are DSiWare games, but those games are downloaded onto the DSi and can't be taken out.
