can a buffet tell you NOT too eat too much of their food?

this happened to our family when we went to a chinese buffet & we paid full price & its called buffet for a reason; can eat all you want. & this asian guy came up to us and he basically told us, not to eat too much of their crab leg. can he do this?. there was never a sign that said not to eat too much imfao.
