I love asking questions on here....i always get the 'oh no god forbid...its not healthy thing....' i am not planning them everyday...i was just thinking about what she can have...and i dont want to fill her up on crap...i just want her to experience different flavours and im getting a little short of ideas...hot dog sausages break up in your fingers by the way...not proper sausages
also im in the uk...i dont think we have gerber
Oy....welfare jones! You dont get to tell me im a bad mother...i havent given my baby them I was asking a question and your a cow. So dont you dare tell me im a bad mother. I breastfeed my baby...give her fruits and veg and i KNOW im a good mother. So why dont you take your opinons and shove them. I asked a simple question and it was not an excuse for you to tell me im lazy and a bad mother. I am a great mother...not lazy at all....you cant be lazy when breastfeeding as im the only source of food for my baby so get off you high horse and dont you dare talk to me like that!
everyone else who didnt personally attack me thank you....the welfare person you are an unpleasant rude individual
Welfare....you didnt answer the question....you said lazy mothers give their kids sausages and jiff (whatever the hell jiff is) and then questioned my parenting skills. The other people on here said that they think hot dog sausages are too high in salt content and on the whole suggested other things for me to try....you did not answer my question so get a grip and dont answer questions if you have nothing but unpleasant and derogatory comments to provide
Perhaps you can tell me what on earth Jiff is?
'Lazy moms serve sausages and Jiff. both are bad along with your question. I would also say the same about your parenting skills'

i didnt ask about jiff because i dont know what it is....you said my question was bad and then said my parenting skills are basically crap....I i was crap i would be feeding her them already from birth...maybe i should of started by mashing them up and putting them in her bottle....that would of been better...then you could call me a crap mother
oh good another one! I do cook healthy things for my baby....the reason i ask is because my friend has two kids and she gave them hot dogs sometimes and wow...they arent dead....they are great healthy kids....interesting that they didnt just die when the hot dog hit their lips...i understand that people are telling me they arent good for baby...which is what i wanted to know...not be abused.
Jessica T.....i dont blow up at my baby when she does anything....honestly im usually calm , i just got angry because i came here for advice and got personal attacks on my parenting skills....im usually very calm...obviously you only have my word for that....but my daughter is rarely naughty and i have no reason to shout at a 7 month old child....anyway...the rest was good answer thanks
ooooh....jif used to be a cleaning product over here before it changed to Cif....so im sure i wouldnt feed that to my baby
welfare and omg person are the same or in cahoots i think!

No! Lazy moms serve their child sausages and jiff. I would say the same for your parenting style.

I would not recommend it but only because of the salt content, but as Natalie J said there are some you can buy in water which would be better, and least then she can try then.
And this does not make you a bad or lazy mom, it is something different to for her to try, kids must get bored of the same stuff all the time! The way some of these are going on anyone would think you had just given a tin of hot dogs and a tin opener and told her to tuck in!

The various aspects of this:

In the US drs recommend no meats until after 8 months, though in other countries they are recommended earlier...so they are not good as a babies first food but probably fine once your baby has been on solids for a while (lkely if they are eating finger foods)

Most hot dogs contain a lot of nitrates and nitrites. These have actually been linked to cancer in some studies, and it is recommended that small children eat less than one hot dog a _week_ because of that, which is not very much!! They do, however, sell uncured hotdogs which have much lower levels of nitrates/nitrites

Hot dogs are considred a choking hazard, partly because they are plug-shaped when sliced, and also because of the skins. But it sounds like you would chop them, not slice, so good idea. Also a hot dog sausage might be something slightly different than I am thinking of anyway, if it breaks up.

Hot dogs tend to have a variety of different meats in them. most people feel most comfortable giving their baby single ingredient meats or at least meats they have already had. They do make several single-meat sausages - for example our grocery store hear has several chicken sausages with various seasonings, also the kind that break up when you take the casing off. They also have all-chicken hot dogs in the organic section.

Personally, I would feel more comfortable looking for alternatives like chicken sausage for a baby this age....but its not going to hurt your baby occasionally...and like always with a new food, just be alert for any reactions.

I don't know what jiff is either, lol, maybe someone here will tell us.
