I have a car system that is rated for 2 ohms and I found a subwoofer that is rated for 4. Will this still work? I have matched up the watts RMS.

most likely yes
as long as you arent over exerting a power source anything higher than 2 ohms is fine (but lower can blow your system ie 1 ohm)
the speakers just might not be as loud
because higher ohms means less electrical current meaning less noise output by speakers

The only stereo systems I have ever seen that are rated for 2 ohm loads are the stock Jeep/Chrysler Infinity amplified systems and the GM/Bose aplified systems. Other than those 2 systems all stereos are designed for 4 ohm loads. If you are replacing a stock 2 ohm sub with an aftermarket sub then you want to use the same 2 ohm load other wise you will be changing the power output of the amplifier that is driving the sub. Replacing a 2 ohm sub with a 4 ohm will cut the wattage in half giving you only half the power of the original sub so if you are going to use a 4 ohm sub it should be rated for half the RMS power the 2 ohm sub was rated for and you should expect lower volume from it. In short, get a 2 ohm sub if the system is rated for 2 ohms.
