can a 2005 jetta gli beat a 2004 mazda rx-8?

I don't know what the gli package has, but if it's turbo, it will beat the r-x8 as long as that doesn't have a turbo. I beat a 2005 rx-8 in a 2003 stock honda s2000, we raced a total of 8 times, and i won 7 of 8. The one loss only being that i missed 3rd gear
