Can a 1985 Toyota Pickup 4X4 straight axle fit on a 1988 Toyota Pickup 4X4?

I dont want a independent axles on my truck cuz its going to have either 38" or 40" Pitbull Rockers on it and it will not be able to push it with a small motor..
