Can 15-year-olds go camping without an adult?

I am 15 years old and I am planning to go camping for a week in the summer with three friends (all 15-year-old girls). We've found a campsite that will take us and we would have an adult coming to check up on us every couple of days but today I was told that it's illegal to spend the night without an adult. What does the law in England say about this?

Only if it's a Catholic campground with gay campmaster priests.
