Ok so, we're going camping this weekend. We will be gone from Thursday night to Monday afternoon. I just got my period today, so ugh. I'm not really sure what to do. We're gonna be in the lake boating/tubing/swimming and stuff, so I'm just gonna wear a tampon. The problem is, I'm kinda worried about Toxic Shock Syndrome? I only need to use the tampon while I'm camping, then I'll go back to using pads when I get home.

Can you get TSS by using tampons for just 4 days?

TSS is a very very rare syndrome. the chances of you getting it while wearing tampons for only four days are super low.

thats a good idea i think the only way you can get tss is if you wear a tampon in too long or ram it into you! im scared to use tampons because of tss

as long as you don't leave the same tampon on for more than 6 hours than you should be fine. Just remember to change it on time.

You can get TSS if you don't change your tampon regularly every 4-8 hours. So just make sure you change it 4-8 hours (eight at max, any longer and it is possible to get TSS).

nope, just as long as you change it every eight hours or as needed.
it does suck, your right, but just carry an extra one in a bag with you
and dont worry, i sleep with them for nine or even ten hours and im good.

Getting TSS is very unlikely. They used to make really super absorbent tampons, thinking that a women would be able to go a whole day with out changing. They later realized that this was a bad idea because TSS was reported. So now they have to put that warning on the box to cover their butts in case anyone happens to get it. Just change your tampon every 4-8 hours like they say(I don't usually leave it 8 hours, more like 4-5 hours) and you'll be fine.

I don't think you'll get it, but I recommend that you wear pads at night. I know it's a hassle and it can get messy, but wearing pads is much more healthier since all the waste can come out instead of staying inside of you and increasing the risk of bacteria. I mostly wear tampons, but I change them every 2-3 hours. Same with you, I only wear pads when I'm at home. Pads feel like diapers :/

No. just be sure to change your tampon every 6-7 hours and you'll be fine. Just, whatever you do, don't leave it in for more than 8 hours!! otherwise, it is likely that you might get TSS. Sleep in pads, and just put a tampon in when you need it.

Trust me honey, TSS is very rare. And you will be totally fine. I wear them all the time exept for sleeping. As long as you make sure that the absorbabcy matches your flow, you will be fine. Just make sure to change it every 4-8 hours! Read all the instructions that come on the box. Have fun camping!

i dunt think so, i dont and theyhave overnight tampons so it cant be as serious as they say
