I have a bunk bed that is about 5 and 1/2 feet tall and was going to make a ramp for my cat to be able to climb up onto the bed. I just want a second opinion on the width of the ramp. I would like to make it as small as possible, but not so small that my cat wont be able to climb it. One side(long side) of the ramp will be against a wall if that makes any difference...
Thanks a lot!

It needs to be at least as wide as the cat. You could make it skinnier (3") if you didn't put it against the wall. BTW, my cats LOVE to climb ladders and have used them to make their way to the roof and the second floor of our cabin. A step ladder is an invitation to a cat, even if it is simply to sit on top and look around. Just be aware they dig their claws in and can wreak havoc with the material it's made from. They prefer soft wood like cedar or fir, or something covered with sisal rope.
