Camp Pendleton need an answer!!?

My husband is stationed at Camp Pendleton, they told him that he is most likely getting the Las Pulgas side of base, my question would be if we got an apartment on the San Clemente side near Las Pulgas, is there a gate on that side or would he have to go all the way on Oceanside to the main gate? Then have to go about 30 minutes inside to where he works? So that would make it about an almost hour ride to work.

Or would it just be best to get an apartment in Oceanside?
