Camera Flash Problems?

I have a Fujifilm FinePix A500 camera. I have had it for a couple years. I like it and don't want to get a new one but lately, the flash has seemed to deaden. I can see it go off very very lightly. It doesn't light the shot any more. It just started, I believe, either yesterday or the night before. I love my camera and have tried all the options to see if they help. Nothing is though. Does anyone know what to do? I would really hate to have to buy a new one! Please?
 
From what you write it sounds as if the flash element is about dead.
These can be replaced - check a local repair shop.
