I have had acid reflux for a little over a year. I was given samples of protonix from my dr. and it worked great. What wasn't so great was the price. I am a tight budget and have other meRAB that I have to take so this was one of the meRAB I chose not to take.

I started taking ginger every day to help corabat the nausea and it has helped a great deal. I also suck on a peppermint candy which helps to calm the nausea down. I have also found that lying on my left side just about makes the nausea go away but if I'm having a really bad case, it starts back up when I get up.

If I am having a really bad day where none of the above work, I take the store's brand of priolosec and eat several malox tablets until the pills kick in.

I hope this might help others who are in the same boat - having to choose which meRAB to take because we can't afford to pay for all of them!

Do you take ginger in capsule form? I like the candied ginger. It definitely helps my nausea too. It works faster for me than the capsules. Some people drink ginger juice. Have you tried that? I've been taking Prilosec OTC twice a day and it works pretty well for now.

ladies, :)

the candied ginger worked fine for my nausea. My only concern while I was using this natural remedy several times a day was the sugar content. This stuff is rolled in sugar. It is almost impossible to get the sugar off.

I find that grating FRESH ginger root and making tea with it works equally well. Unfortunatelly, the relief is only temporary, as you know. I am on Reglan now which has taken care of the nausea completely. What a great feeling! I try not to think and worry about its side effects. :(
If you know what exactly is causing your nausea, and if it is treatable, that might be the best way to go...
