Hi
Since I use retin-a cream, I just use Cetaphil to wash my face. The derms say to use something non-medicated and gentle if you're using retin-a to avoid extra irritation. If you've tried topicals, you definitely have reason to be skeptical! When I first started using retin-a, it really irritated my skin (made me look really "flushed") and I had a bad initial breakout for about 12 weeks
As far as diet goes...I like food too much to change my diet! I know it's bad, but I'd rather have zits than not be able to eat the fooRAB I like. A while back I did try to avoid dairy products completely, but that only lasted for about a week and after I didn't notice a difference I gave up (I'm sure that probably wasn't a long enough time to tell though).
