Rogers today introduced a new service: Call Manager.
This web based service is accessed through the Rogers.com portal
The service allows for incoming and outgoing call management, based upon call display information.
Don't want unknown, blocked, or private numbers ringing your BlackBerry? (Or any other phone.) Block them!
Don't want phone calls for cab rides from drunks in Cleveland Ohio who dialed your number by accident? (Happens ALL the time!!) Block an entire area code!!
Going out on Friday night, and fearful of "drinking and dialing"? Block yourself from phoning that formerly-special someone!!
And, if you're on a family plan, you can set global rules for all phones, or specific rules for each phone!!!
Ok, seriously, this service is FANTASTIC!!
And not only does it block calls, it also blocks SMS messages!
Not only can a call be blocked 24/7, but rules can be further defined to block the call, forward to voicemail, or forward to another number!
And, rules can be set for time of day, day of week, or restricted to a specific date range!
Having added it to my account, and gone and set up some test rules, the rules are applied instantly.
And, for this convenience and piece of mind...only $5 a month! (Add a 33% discount if you're combining with an existing Value Pack.)
I am quite giddy about this service. Being on call 24/7 I'm prone to getting wake up calls for wrong numbers in the middle of the night, or people I just don't want to talk to! Not anymore!
