Californication, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 1999 Warner Brothers

I forgot to add, one more critisism you should have added was that the songs Around the World and Purple stain really dont belong on this album. I love them, think there geat, but they dont fit the mood of this album, and they digress back to older stuff from mothers milk and such.

Eh, yeah but Flea had cleaned up his act for the most part and Smith wasn't a major factor in their sound. You are right though that Frusciante's drug use was a driving force in their sound...

Why is it that some people get so worked up if you criticize a band like the Chilis. I mean seriously, boo boo, you're talking as if I'm personally insulting you or something.

On the topic of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' more funk-orientated songs, it occurred to me the other day that a good deal of these songs may be more aptly passed off as being rooted in/influenced by hardcore punk, a la Beastie Boys. A number of the songs are also passable as old-school hiphop.

Songs like Right On Time particularly make me think of the hardcore.

Oh my god, lay off him. If he's "just in seventh grade" that doesn't justify saying he's as dumb as a fourth grader because he doesn't know what a metaphor is, which I think he might. I mean, sometimes when I read these types of posts I wonder if your incentive is to be productive, or start an argument. Why you would want to start an argument, I don't know. But you act fifteen, I hope your not thirty for your maturities sake.
Maybe it's just arrogance.

"Lets have sex, on the moon, while on lsd, from orange baloons. I once f*cked a dog, her name was Jesus, she let me drank her wine, am I saved?"

A little ditty I wrote. Its about the war in Iraq.

Not a HUGE chili fan but Californication is a great album...

Always annoyed at the start of it though at the shameless theft of the 'breadfan' riff by budgie for 'around the world'. Listen to both and you'll see what i mean!

ALMOST as bad as the ridiculously tom petty-ish dani california :P
