Californication, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 1999 Warner Brothers

There aren't any, he doesn't even know what a metaphor is and the Patrick Wolf line is talking about the cliches boy are supposed to follow it wasn't the best one to quote, I think I like Wolf Song better but its the only one that came to mind.

And not one thing about cancer?

"because i have learned that nothing is as pressing / as the one who is pressing would like you to believe / and i'm content to walk a little slower / because there's nowhere that i really need to be".

Taking things slowly instead of as most doctors suggest living your life to the fullest the one whos pressing etc, duh and last verse especially touches on it

we will always be the way we were that night
you crawled inside of me
and you slept in my blood the way you sleep now
the quietest hush has consumed this house
and when the doctors have gone and you sweat through the bed
with the pictures and the pills they piled around your head
just rest now, and in a moment you will know everything
was it all a dream?
it’s too vague now to recount.
an outline of the one you loved in a life that was that not longer will be stanRAB above you as you sleep.

And he started it by attacking my taste in lyrics, so he can be blamed for it not me despite what he says.

I get what you're saying but I'm saying it seems like he's trying to say something a little deeper than I went into the backyard to cool down.

I enjoyed the album a lot and it started off really strong but, as said before, it really neeRAB a remixed edition. This album is better then the stuff they bring out later which is kind of sad. I hope they come out with something half decent soon.

That's a weird thing to write about though. If it rains I'll sink into the mud? Honestly, that's either utter crap or a metaphor.

They're not standouts, and what's more, thinking back it's about FOUR SONGS that even lay claim to approaching funk rock. Whoop-te-blinkin' do.

You took that comment way too seriously, lol. By the way, you took the worst lyrics from the entire song as an example. That Patrick Wolf bit is absolutely horrible. He contradicts himself horribly.

Lol, typical Urban.

He's good, but I wouldn't call him a great drummer by any means. He's tight and plays his part though.

Frusciante and Flea are both excellent musicians however, but on the last 2 RHCP albums their talent has been kinda wasted. I think the most impressive work both of them have done so far this decade was with the Mars Volta, Fleas bass playing on De-Loused is excellent.

this and One Hot Minute (being the clinically depressed black sheep in the Chili's back catalogue) are the only ones I would still listen to, having been a total fanatic when I was younger loving every album. this was obviously their big transition into classic melody, leaving the funk/metal thing behind slightly.

the title track has pretty much everything i'd want from a pop song - cool changes, good lyrics and no showboating. lav iiiit

I think Flea is very good on the album but the problem is that there's more of a focus on Frusciante. The Peppers are at their best with everyone contributing equally.

Sacred cows and all that.

I think this bland piece of sh*t record deserves any savaging it gets. And before I get accused of being a hater I would like to point out I spent money on this crap and have a perfect right to voice my utter contempt at this turd of an album.
