Calf pain and heat, what is it?

I have had this before, a few times over 3-4 years. BUt this is definately the worst it has ever been.

I have a localised pain in my left calf, which hurts when resting and moving. At times the area feels hot inside but not all the time. There is no redness and no swelling.

As it has happened before nad gone away, I am kinda thinking (hoping!) that it is not DVT / clots etc. Surely that would not just go away?

I haven't injured the leg at all, do have slight lower back pain, but thigh is fine. What else could it be?

Since you mentioned having "slight lower back pain", I'm going with sciatica. I suffer from chronic lower back issues, and as a result of this I've dealt with sciatica that is localized in my calf area. The rest of my leg was fine, however the pain I felt in my right calf was as if somebody was ripping the skin off of my bone. It was a horrible, excruciating burning sensation...like my lower leg was on fire. Turned out to be a compressed nerve in my lumbar spine due to my back problems (slipped vertebra at L5/S1).

Could also be a case of Achilles tendinitis. Same symptoms. Treat with resting the leg and taking anNSAID like ibuprofen or Aleve.

Hi, name is Diane, Just got back from doc a few hours ago. I have been on the site in the foot problem area due to a few surgeries on my ankles. My last surgery was 19 months ago. I started getting this deep throbbing pain with the burning in April. Now it is pretty constant. It feels like my leg is on fire. Kindof annoying! It is the front of my calf, left leg. So far the blood test came back neg for clots. I also got an x-ray. Next appointment is in 4 weeks. It will be a long 4 weeks. I do have some lower back issues. Only when I lay down. Hows that for a bummer. When I finally get to get off my messed up ankles my back hurts. So here I am, decide to try a search and I am surprised to find this. I thought I was crazy.
So the back could be it? Any thing on your end eltwins? The achilles is in the back, right?
Diane
