Hello anyone.
Had L5-S1 Fusion with roRAB / screws / and a cage on Nov 11th 2008. It's only been 23 days now but I have developed a very bad nerve pain in the calf that goes down to the foot and toes. The toes seem to be very tender to touch and the nerve in the calf and foot is very sore.
It has now been that way for about the last 5 days. Went back to the Dr. and he didn't really have any idea why this would be happening.
Gave me something called Ketorolac 10 mg 4 times a day and said come back in 2 weeks for a follow up.
Didn't seem to be much help at all really.
So my question is, has anyone else had this symptom after having a fusion?
Is it normal?
Will it go away?

My Dr. didn't seem to think it was that bad at all which I found was a strange answer from a professional.

As always.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

I have heard many people on this board talk about this. It happened to me too! My husband rubbed them down with biofreeze even tho it hurt to be touched and I put on those compression socks from the hospital. I couldn't let the blanket touch them because of the pain!!
I tried drinking tonic water (quinine) because that is supposed to ease the pain but it didn't work either. Is it worse in the evening? If they were muscle spasms then I was SORE for days after-not normal for me. I took my regular pain meRAB along with the Lyrica I had been prescribed. I am not sure exactly when they went away-it was a couple weeks.
I hope you get relief soon!

Blessings,
Michelle
