We Rescued a Cairn Terrier mix..She was approximately 5 years old when we rescued her from a man who died of AIDS.and cousin to my best friend...She is larger than the usual small pure breed Cairn Terriers and about 25 pounds now..When we rescued her over a year ago ..The vet said she is healthy except we needed to take 10 pounds of weight off of her. She weighed 35 pounds at the time...We took the weight off at approximately 2-3 pounds a week..She hit a plateau at 25 pounds and we did not want to attempt to give her less food..She stands about 14 inches tall and is 22 inches long..
She is 6 years old now and recently she has turned to bug chasing as her sport..She and our other 2 rescues love chasing squirrels all over our grassed fenced in acre.she has a bunch of tug of war toys..She can easily go to the back door grab hold of a tug a war toy..My 70 pound lab will grab the other side..I will open the backdoor and our CAIRN can literally pull our lab out the door backwards with little effort..She is so super strong!!!!
Questions about our Cairn Terrier mix..Recently she brought in a yellow Texas grasshopper and when I told her to drop it.she ate it real fast!!!..Gulp it's gone.. Last night she brought in a cricket from the back yard and I caught her holding it in her mouth when she came in from the back yard.. I took it out of her mouth and put the poor cricket back outside..She is just so fast.....
Also when we feed her breakfast and dinner which is 1/4 cup of dry Blue Buffalo for morning and 1/4 cup dry Blue Buffalo with a teaspoon of wet food for dinner..She eats in 3 seconds.....
WHY is my dog dining on the backyard when I take her out to go potty.or play??.Also how do I slow her down when she eats her breakfast and her dinner..?? Am I not feeding her enough??
