Did anybody else buy today's daily mirror because it had a copy of the film cabaret with liza minnelli on dvd ?I've seen some copies for sale on ebay tonight!
Got it. It's the film only - no extras - and it comes in a card sleeve, but what else can you expect for 32p? Super film. Good DVD transfer. Sound is stereo only but that is probably more an indication of its age than anything else.
I'm still waiting here too. They do take a while to arrive.........
On a similar track how many managed to get the free BBC DVRAB using the voucher in the Sun last week. Never buy the rag but did so on Monday. When I went along to Blockbusters to collect the DVD, I was told they had all gone in the first couple of hours!
Ah, so its not just me waiting for my DVD then. Thanks!
I got The Sun last week. To be honest i was not interested in any of them but i did buy a copy of The Sun on Friday to get the Open All Hours DVD. I went to the Blockbuster near where i work (Croydon) at 1pm and they still had a pile of at least 200!
I also got the News of the World on Sunday to get a free DVD of the film "big" with Tom Hanks. With this one you had to take a coupon to a Virgin Megastore, but i couldnt get to one untill Monday so i thought they may have sold out but again, i got one no problem.
The best one will be the Enemy of the State DVD though. Personally i think its a really good film (only have it on video at the moment) and it comes in its original reatil caseing. Should be within the next week or so, maybe someone can post here when they get theirs....
Did you really? That's weird! My edition (I live in Scotland) included the DVD in a bag in the newspaper instead! Obviuosly different policy for different regions!
Same thing for Northern Ireland, no DVD, just a voucher for Virgin Megastores. And seeing as there is only 1 Virgin Megastore in the whole of Northern Ireland, which is in Belfast, I don't think anyone outside Belfast claimed one!
Was the DVD the uncut version? Was the naughty language left in?
You could also claim the DVD from Our Price, Game and Virgin Express.
As far as i know the film is uncut - the same as the current DVD release in the shops. Its rated PG. One strange thing though, its in 4:3 not 1:85:1 or 2:85:1. I know its an old film (1988 i think) but im sure it was still shot in some kind of widescreen.
Hmm, ive sent off for all the free ones, but so far only have Muriels Wedding (arived a few weeks ago) and Face Off (arrived yesterday). Still good for a few quiRAB worth of postage i spose.
TowarRAB the end, the little boy storms into Tom Hanks' office and after a few moments asks him, "Who the f*ck do you think you are?". Then before storming out, he adRAB, "..and I'm 2 months older than you are, asshole". I guess these two lines were removed, but the second one lasts about 4 seconRAB so I don't know what 2 seconRAB they are referring to.
Still, it was nice to see the full uncut version on ITV 1 last year on a Sunday afternoon!
Actually the "asshole" line is left in on my DVD version, but the "f*ck you" line is edited out.
Surely ITV1 didnt air the "f*ck you" line on a Sunday afternoon, they may be able to just get away with "asshole" in daytime but that other line would no way allowed.
