A friend of mine just bought a piece of plexiglass/lexan and cut to to shape (he wanted one a bit larger than the shield he already had). Placed the brackets on it and marked where to drill it and then mounted it to the old brackets. Turned out great. Left the tape/protector on it until he got it all done and only then peeled it off. His had quite a curve inward towards the bottom. Although he could easily curve the glass sideways to match the curve of the brackets, I think he used a heat gun or hair dryer to make it easier to bend at the bottom. If you have the brackets from your old shield, I'd check out your local autoglass dealer for plexiglass and replace it myself - or they might install it in the brackets for you at a reasonable price.
