C6-01 vs C7-00

I am having difficulty understanding why these two models are being produced at the same time. They seem to be the same size, have the same main processor and GPU hardware, and same screen resolution.

What exactly is the difference?
 
Typical Nokia, they continue to release phones with minor tweaks.. Looks like Nokia has given up on high end phones for good & settled down with these low-mid range phones. No N8, E7 are not high end phones ;)
 
I just don't know.

8 GB of memory isn't much these days, and nobody uses NFC.

I understand the differences, but I'm still not sure I'd be making both of these devices.
 
It's also very likely about carrier relationships and the slots they may or may not have in their lineups. With the lower price point the C6 can be offered very cheap or free on contract, whereas the a little more expensive and polished C7 may allow the carrier (and hence Nokia) to squeeze out a bit more revenue.

Also, some may just prefer the look of one over the other of course.

As for NFC - well, yes, it may never break through but it does now have some momentum, including as other manufacturers are also starting to include it in their devices.
 
I find the attitude towards NFC very interesting. Nobody's using NFC, why make it? Well that's been Nokia's whole problem for the past 10 years.

I guarantee you that in 5 years everyone will be using NFC for everything, and in fact it's already quite widely used in some countries, so Nokia should be delivering it now and in every single phone too. It's just like the N-Gage, S90 (7700 and 7710), etc. Nokia has at times been light years ahead of the technological curve but the response to their offerings was tepid so they caved instantly instead of working to make improvements.
 
And that is SO true, i freakin hate that this happens, apple FINALLY decides to use something and they act like they created it and others haven't already been using it for years....****ing apple.
 
Ok look at it this way, who do you think makes more money, Ford or Ferrari? And Ford will make a car that is (almost) as good as Ferrari every so often. (Ford GT)
Also the N8 and E7 phone are not super high end, but they are up there, they do the same things as others, just the transitions aren't as cool.

It is something that I would probably never use, but I can already see the Apple commercial showing it off with some cheezy song in the background and the cult would go crazy... :rolleyes:
 
People (at least in the US) actually thinks Google invented NFC (Nexus S). A bit of a shocker for them to know Samsung has been shipping NFC on their Bada Wave phones.
