Seeking help opening the lockable storage on a C50. Bought it used and don't have an owner's manual yet. I can unlock it but it doesn't come off easily and I don't want to apply enough pressure to break something.

Thanks in advance

I felt the same way the first time I opened it. Just unlock it and pull the cover off. Once unlocked it's only held by 2 pegs inside some rubber gromets

Thanks -- should you pull it straight out, to the top, to the bottom, to the left?

I could get the left side pulled loose, but the right side seemed "hung".

Just pull straight out. May have to give an extra tug on the right side if that peg is a little tight, mine was when it was new, but mostly you'll be pulling straight out.

I find putting it back on is a pain for me. I finagle and finesse it and it reluctantly goes on... would putting silicon lube on the pegs help I wonder? It does have a nice tool kit in there and the dealer said it is a good place to keep the paper work.

Now that I've gotten it open, I find the following.

It comes apart in two pieces--first the outer hard shell, then the inner "hard rubber" component.

When removing the outer hard shell, first pull outward on the bottom of the shell, then rotate the bottom upwards so the upper lip can slip from under the bike frame. Next, remove the "hard rubber" portion which has flanges that fit in fixed part of the bike.

Installation is the reverse. When installing the outer shell, inserting the upper "flange" behind the bike frame first makes it slip on much easier.
