C50 cam timming chain help???

I just bought a 2005 C50 with engine issues, the bike looks great and has 30,000 miles, however for some unknown reason someone has taken apart the top end. I bought it and immediately tore it apart to find that they had installed the timing chain wrong and now it has two bent exhaust valves. Whoever assembled it had ran the chains inside of the tensioners and the chains had a great deal of slack in them, letting the valves smack the piston, luckily it is not damaged beyond the two valves

My question is is how do I set the cam timing when I reassemble the engine? Both front and rear cams have arrows on them but I do not know what to set them by, do I need to drop the side cases as well?

Any help will be appreciated but diagrams would be great too.

I will try to post up a pic or two of the internals.

The first pic is of how I found the tensioner in front of the chain not doing anything at all.

The second and third is of the correct way to run the chain guides and tensioner.
