C109r sissy bar

Hello all!

New c109r owner :)

I am looking into adding a sissy bar, but am not sure which one to go with. There are not many choices yet for the 109, but so far I have looked at the Suzuki and Cobra versions. I do not want a very large one, but at the same time I do what something that will be comfortable for the passenger.

The Cobra comes in a mini, short and standard. Does anyone have any experience with the different versions they offer? Pics would be great as well if anyone has them. I did email Cobra to get measurements on the different versions. For everyone's benefit they stated that the standard bar is 17" tall, the short is 14" and the mini is 12" tall. The standard pad is 8 1/2" x 7 1/2" and the mini is 6" x 4". They also stated that you loose about 1 1/2" to 2" when the bar is mounted on the bike.

The Suzuki version is nice, but very pricey and not sure if I want to bite that bullet.

Thoughts? Any other possibilities out there?

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich. This is a great post. I am interested in getting a backrest for my c109 too. Some close up pics from people who have one would be grreat! :P

I am surprised that cobra and others would not put good pictures and dimensions on their web sites. :wtf:

I have the Suzuki one as well and it is MUCH wider at the backrest than alot of the aftermarket ones out there that I have seen.

Wife loves it here too.
That was what got me the C109 in the first place. She wanted to look at a Nomad til she sat on it.
:)

Great post, I'm looking into buying one myself for my '82 GS. But, in addition to finding the right one, are sissybars pretty much universal? Or for my bike, are there only certain kinds that will fit??
