C & C The Simpsons " Smoke on the Daughter " ( 3/30/08)

It is pretty dissimilar, though. bart was a ballet savant. he was good at it. He only wanted to quit because it was girly. And Kearny's gang was going to pound the snot out of him.

The couch gag was genius! Although it would have been funnier if they just had the family land on the couch and Homer fall through. I'll admit the plot (like many recent ones) meandered from one place to another. But looking back at earlier episodes, they did the same thing, just not really to the same extent. IMO something other than ballet could have been used, especially as Lisa has done dancing before.

Homer & Bart's plot was fairly decent. It's alwasy nice to see Homer up to some dodgy activities; although I'm not sure making jerky counts (BTW, what has Moe been up to recently, he used to have all kinds of rackets going).

The main plot was, well, not as understated as I would have liked. I mean yeah, it's about smoking (which has been done before, and in a more subversive way). The idea that the smoke was making the dancers dance is a bit unbelievable. Maybe I missed it, but wouldn't it have been to keep them thin or something? Anyway, Maybe it was the guys upstairs but I think the writer's should have had the balls to make Lisa take at least one drag (they didn't seem to have a problem with her taking one bite of a hotdog). They did a pretty good job otherwise (the dream sequence was great, complete with, I'm assuming, an older Lisa), but the story did descend into a bit of a farce right at the end of the performance.

Overall, twas OK. But I have been quite impressed with the overall quality of shows this season. At least they're not completely rehashing old plot ideas all of the time.
