This episode feels like "Last Tap Dance in Springfield", "Homer vs. Patty and Selma", and that section of "Separate Vocations", all rolled into one inferior package.

Can't say I liked it much at all. It was very messily constructed; the plot was all over the place. I felt the satire, if that's what they were to intending to do, was very weak. The subplot with Bart/Homer was just one of those annoying subplots where Bart acts as a straight man for Homer which isn't very funny. So yeah...all in all...I didn't care for it; mediocre episode.

Poor plot but some really good jokes. Particularly, as others have mentioned, Homer vs. the worms. Also Maggie strangling Bart, in yet further proof that she's destined to become a mercenary/hitwoman/assassin someday.

Oh, and Quimby's "one more favor" request to God. :D

A very enjoyable episode, only things I didn't like were the Harry Potter spoof in the beginning and the end the end of the ballerina plot was weak. But great gags through out.

That couch gag rocked! One thing I really liked about this episode was that Homer was the one involved trying to get Lisa off of breathing in second hand smoke instead of Marge. It shows Homer can be a good father from time to time. And those raccoons where cute.

What's the difference between Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin? Homer loves his kids.

The dialog was in rare form today, just firing off one good joke after another in rapid succession. Very well written and preformed. And I loved Angelica Button from the previous episode returning here. Lisa reading the book: "Maluicious Krubb is actually Kraluicious Mubb." Family: *GASP!*

Once again, the opening couch gag and the first 3-5 minutes of the show were the funniest, and the rest just devolved into anotyher completely disconnected plot. How the heck does getting a Harry Potter book equal Ballerinas? Well, you see, they read a book, and wanted to watch TV and a commercial was on...

It would be nice, no, great to see one episode start out with something, and actually follow through with that plotline. No more of this disconnected crap that leads to something pointless.

Not to say there weren't some laughs in the episode. Marge saying "Lisa, the Dancing Marge Girl" and Homer's statue commemorating his failure to conquer worms was okay. At least this wasn't totally a "Homer gets a new job and make lame jokes about said job" episodes... totally.

But Man, do I hate these preachy Lisa episodes. I can only be thankful it wasn't another musical. I can only be thankful it wasn't.

Exactly. I was saying to myself, haven't I seen Lisa get into a dance class and become Disillusioned with it before (something they did much better with Bart all the way back in Season 2, when he was disillusioned with Hockey)? All and all, the Simpsons really looks like it's become a kid's show half the time. Any episode about Lisa is basically an afterschool special or an episode of Doug. Homer's subplot was okay, but .... not even that funny. At least it wasn't a bunch of beef jerky jokes.

And why on Earth would he be ashamed to make beef jerky? Dude probably puts it in his coffee.
