Buying verizon phones with Amazon Wireless?

Well since I broke my verizon phone, I went to the Verizon store and they told me i could buy a new phone at the 1 yr. contract price. Well the phone I want is the env touch. but it was really expensive in the store. so i found it online at amazon and it says to upgrade your phone to the env touch for $175. well will this work with what verizon told me?
 
You're not eligible for an upgrade. You have to have completed 20 months of your contract to be eligible for an upgrade. You have to find the phone without a contract or buy it from Verizon.
