Ok so here goes, im going to the Dominican Republic on the 9th to visit family, anyway, my cousin told me to bring her some Shojo manga (she did not specify, she doesn't care what it is, she just wants it), they don't sell manga over there (according to her anyway) so shes never really had any in her hanRAB before. Shes either 16 or 17 years old (not sure).

Anyway, i dont read shojo manga so i dont know anything, so i need you guys (girls) to tell me what to get her.

It has to be a finished story and cant be longer than 10 volumes (i don't have lots of money), obviously it has to have been released here in the US in its entirety (so i can buy it all), and yes, my cousin can read English. I dont want anything ongoing cause i dont wanna leave her with an unfinished manga (itl be a long time before i go there again, probably).

Preferably something that was fairly popular, i know that popularity doesn't always equal quality and all that stuff but i wanna get something that was popular because popularity means that a lot of people liked it (mass appeal), so she will probably like it too.

I don't care about the content in it, smut doesn't matter, even stuff that appeals to those lowest common denominator people that some of you guys are always going on about like their the plague or are ruining anime or something, its all ok. I just care that the manga was liked by lots of people (popular).

Oh yeah, i know shes into this one thing called Red River or whatever, so if theres something similar to that then tell me.

not a girl but
hm
if this one is on sale zettai karen children but I doubt its been licensed
Im not sure if this is a manga but you can try princess tutu
you can try sailor moon and utena as well...
what else? oh tokyo mew mew
hm a couple of titles anything specific?

^^She likes Red River (thats all i know), anything like that is fine, but cant be longer than1 10 volumes!!!!, if its not liscenced then its obviously no good.

Princes Tutu and Utena or Tokyo mew mew, theres no way she hasnt seen the anime for those (theres just no way), so im not getting her those manga.

its hard but not imossible to find a manga for her tastes
do you know any anime she has watched that she would like to read the manga adaptation
there is also some titles I tossed out there

fruits basket (more than 10 volumes
kare kano (not shojo but a nice title for girls though its more than 10 volumes)
hot gimmick (not sure about this amount of volumes
peach girl
paradise kiss
fushigi yugi (I think more than 10)
full moon o sagashite
vampire knight is one but it is still running and has no end in sight

from the list depending on age I'd go with paradise kiss and princess ai, but I warn this is age dependent because they are some mature titles I highly recommend parakiss and ai.

You could probably try something that was by Clamp. I read CardCaptor Sakura and enjoyed it, and it is complete here in the U.S. The only problem is that it's 12 volumes long. However, there is other shojo manga written by Clamp that is shorter and complete.

Off the top of my head, here are some shojo manga that are under 10 volumes, and completely released...

Absolute Boyfriend (Yuu Watase,6 volumes)
Imadoki (Yuu Watase,5 volumes)
Alice 19th (Yuu Watase,7 volumes)

...yeah,I'm a big Yuu Watase fan ...I love her character designs, and she does comedy and drama equally well,IMO....

Full Moon (Arina Tanemura,7 volumes)
Kaimkaze Kaito Jeanne (Arina Tanemura,7 volumes)
Magic Knight Rayearth (CLAMP,6 volumes)

Full Moon would be a good one, most of this author's work is less than ten volumes (Gentlemen's Alliance + stops at 11).

We've always been here...
