I have a 1996 Roadking with 113,000 mi. and I am considering buying a new factory engine and swapping it out.The 1340cc engines they sell say "for Softtails".Is there any difference between the two engines? They don't offer engines that are specifically for touring models.

The only difference btwn the two I understand is the way it's mounted to the frame.

With that said, I don't know if the mounting points on the engine for the Softail is different from the one on the Touring models. I doubt so though.

Have your dealer price compare both a new motor and a remanufacturing of yours for starters.
Don't forget labor....on a motor swap estimate 4 hours out and 4 hours in.

There is no difference in the cases on evo engines, no matter which frame it goes in. Softails are solid mount. Touring is rubber mount. But that has nothing to do with the engine case. If you don't know for sure why add to the confusion around here?

Please Andy, tell us what's different about the softail versus touring camshafts from 92-98.
