if your a sales man that would be awesome if not anyone can feel free......

i want either a mazda tribute or a ford escape my gears are going towards the tribute... i just like it a lot better... however .... cost is an issue....

we are buying in jan.... do they have good rebates then for both of the cars

I don't know much about the Tribute, but I love the 28 MPG I get in my Escape Hybrid.

They are exactly the same car.
The Escape will be cheaper and the Mazda will hold its value better.

www.edmunds.com has the 'true cost to own' figures, which calcluates the 5 year total average cost of depreciation, financing, insurance, taxes and fees, fuel, maintenance and repairs.

The Tribute average cost per mile is $0.48.
The Escape average cost per mile is $0.52

Go get the Tribute.

Both of those vehicles depreciate off a cliff. That's great news if you're buying it a year or two old -- not so much if you're buying new. Big rebates devalue vehicles and really don't help you in the long run. Buy as a certified used and get a full manufacturer's warranty while saving 30%. They are the same vehicle but I like the Mazda version, and they hold resale better.

The rebates on new cars are announced on a month to month basis, so nobody knows what they'll be in Jan. You'll probably have big incentives on '08 models, but it'll be near impossible to find one by that time.

Right now in my area you can buy a brand new 2009 Ford Escape LTD with $3500. delivery allowance plus you can get 2.9% financing for 60 months.

I somehow will be very surprised if you will find a better deal in January.
Don't buy any car, new or used w/o reading up here:
