So your telling me DNA has no idea or no method of tracking how many/ what kind/ type version are setting on the dealers floor .

If this is indeed how their organized.....Sounds like they might want to fire a few more folks and maybe try on some forward thinking staff........

I am not trying to flame you, but why did you lead this guy to believe there were no more black 1198s' for sale in your area? Why did he have to do all the leg work to find the bike? Isn't that the salesman's job?

Sorry if this comes across a little douchey, I am not trying to bad mouth your store but it looks a little bad.

I think you owe this guy a free set of Termis for his trouble.

just wondering if you can clear something up for me RC??
dealerships here in oz are independant small business owners..none actually work for ducati itself...although we have to walk the walk, talk the talk, wear the uniforms etc...the importer is more affiliated with ducati than we are..
whats the go in the states??

surprises me when you guys say italy is thinning out the herd..as italy has nothing to do with individual dealership's or staffing etc, over here..

just curious..

o yeah...here..
it is at times possible to miss a bike that is sitting on someones showroom floor..one scenario could be a sale that has fallen thru and data has not been updated.. simple easy mistake..we try our best to help a customer get the bike they want..

Man you guys are a tough crowd....

There are no 1198S available from Ducati NA.
Dealers just recently were given a means to look for visible inventory in other dealers inventory in different market areas but it still doesn't change the fact that DNA has none in their un sold inventory to supply.
In our case our customer was never told to go look for a bike on his own he was just excited to find one, all that time our sales rep from DNA was searching for an available unit out of our district (WA,OR,ID,MT,UT,AK and CO) as well as the entire West Coast. He found an un assembled one closer to home than NH and a deal was then put together.

Last, as far as Italy laying off employees at Ducati NA goes, you guys are a bit mixed up there too. DNA is a subsidiary of DMH just like in most other Countries... DNA makes those kind of calls on their own and are just snugging up their belts like almost every other business out there..

cool... thanks, you answered my question dave..
that was what i was asking...

worst scenario from italy would be them cutting back on production and needing less dealerships/outlets in the states..
nothing to do with staffing of dealerships same as here....

is DNA the major importer into the states???

i havent heard anything regarding ducati cutting back on their units per year..

i was just relating to the only aspect in which the factory itself could have anything to do with dealerships and their employees..

stating the 'worst' scenario would be cutting back by the factory..that 'may' have direct effect on dealerships and their numbers worldwide..
if that was to happen>>that is the only way the factory could have anything to do with the actual 'employee's' at a dealership..dealerships handle their own employee/employment situations..
not ducati in italy...thats all i meant

i cant fully agree with the 'infamous for being full of shit'..nasty johnnyduc!!
however i do agree with wishing they would have stayed small and exclusive like years back..

dont believe ducati has cut back...would have heard about it from the partner..he would be concerned for his ducati dealership...he is in indirect contact with the factory everyday, via the importer...and i have no doubt, i would have heard about it non-stop >like..he'd be worried..

we've recently had a few quiet months regarding sales..but it has picked up again now
