Buying alcohol with Military ID.?

I was trying to buy alcohol with my Military ID and the cashier said I must have a valid CA drivers license and that I can't use my Military ID. He also said that it is the CA law. Anyone know if there is a law about it and if so a link to it would be helpful. Or the guy is being a moron. This happened at a Von's grocery store in CA.
 
i'm pretty sure the guy was just being a moron, any proof that you are over 21 should be fine, a drivers license has nothing to do with buying alcohol, lol, so i guess if you showed him a state ID he wouldn't accept it? xD
