Buying a Toyota With Over 100,000 Miles Help?

Just Do It

I found a really nice 2004 Matrix XR for sale ($6,000) but the car has 100,567 miles on it. Do you think the mileage is too high or does the mileage not matter as much since it's a Toyota? Also, if I perform regular maintenance, how many more years/miles can I expect out of this car?

p.s. I'd like to talk the $6k dealer price down. How much should I tell them is the max I am willing to pay for the car? The car looks like it's in great shape and when I put the car into KBB the value was listed at $9k. The dealer started the price off pretty high and has been slowly lowering the price down every month so I think now might be a good time to go for it. What do you think?

~~Best answer gets the 10 points thanks~~!!

I have a Toyota with a little over 200K on it. It is still in good shape, doesn't use oil, and everything including the A/C work fine. I figure a Toyota, with proper care and maintenance, should be good for about 300K. At least, that is my experience.

The car you mentioned is also sold as a Pontiac too.

dont look at mileage but check what shape ones in you can get a low mileage car thats been drove at drag strip on weekend an dbe junk low mileage car thats never had a oil change be junk mileage not a thing to check its shape type how to check used car into search box gets you a checklist to look for problem signs finding anything on list walk a way
