I'm about to spend £4000 on a 51 plate toyota celica 140BHP .. its got a full bodykit worth £1000+, a full exhaust system worth a few hundred, a T-bar on the engine to hold it?, a complete sound system by JBL along with 17" alloy wheels worth under a £1000 .. only drawback is its 7 owners! .. the HPI check says its clean .. what's the disadvatage of 7 owners? and when I come to sell it, how would it affect the resale value .. thanks for your time!

Ghee - I would not. Why did seven people say "NO" to it ?
I bought myself a bicycle and am happy with it although it was scary for a while because of the traffic

the previous owners probably found the insurance too high.
there isn't much space inside the car
perhaps it is expensive to service
the 17 inch wheels will probably make it a very hard ride on todays poor roads (- alert your chiropractor!)

the body kit, exhaust, sound system and wheels are worth a lot less as they are now secondhand

is it the sort of car that the police will always be stopping?

You MUST be asking yourself why all the previous owners got rid of it so quickly, surely? Don't touch it, my friend, or you'll be yet another, trying to flog it with 8 keepers now on record.

7 owners is likely to deter future buyers when you come to sell it. The only way around that would be to to drop the price substantially ! Incidentally, I own a 2000 model Celica, on a V-plate, the traders will not offer me more than £2000 for it. Celicas, like most other used cars, have dropped significantally in price, over the past year or so. The fact it has a bodykit, exhaust, stereo, wheels etc. does not count for much ie.it does not warrant paying much money for these accessories. They are worth a pittance once fitted to a car, much to the disappointment of the buyer. I spent a grand on a car stereo system, a year later I got £200 for it. I think £4000 is too much mate !
