I'm looking to buy a new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The 4.7 L V8 gets 17 mpg and the 5.7 L Hemi gets 20 mpg. The 4.7L can be run on E85 but the Hemi cannot. I'm kind of a green head and am a little confused as to which choice would be more environmentally friendly. Would the E85 in a lesser fuel efficient engine be friendlier? Or would a regular gasoline in a more fuel efficient engine be friendlier?

Where can you buy ethanol in your area? I find people purchasing these vehicles and never having the opportunity to use ethanol, so I would go with the more fuel efficient engine, your checkbook will be happier too.

when you do buy one think about where your going to buy fuel at,most places don't have e-85 available yet,so think of this when buying one,and it is true the hemi does get more miles per gallon but if you don't need a hemi for pulling power then the 4.7 is a good choice,it just doesn't have the pulling power that the hemi has,and e-85 doesn't get as many miles to the gallon as regular gas does, this is also something to consider, you don't gain anything by using e-85 it cost you more in the long run to use it than its worth, good luck.

if you live in florida. go to coral springs dodge.
