buying a duke

hey there,
I'm in the market for a duke,always loved them,,owned a pantah quite a few years ago. I'm looking at a couple and hope to be in the saddle in two weeks or so.
I'm looking at a 900 monster dark and a 900 ss and 1000ss, love to get any advice.
I want something that I can enjoy on a quick squirt up the mountains but will also be enjoyable on the loger rides.

M900 is going to have the best riding position for longer rides, but it certainly isn't setup for highway hauling. Look at a Multistrada at all?

I did look at the multistrada but did not like the look of them at all,I did see a nakid that did not look to bad but otherwise they don't really rock my boat.
hey a bike has to look good,sound good as well as ride like a dream dosn't it ?

The hypers are pretty comfortable. Not sure about the older Monsters but the 696 was a bit on the uncomfortable side.

My girl has a 696 and it is a bit underpowered for extended riding, and no wind protection. The Hyper is not a bad idea, but again, on the big rides especially if you are with buddies on sport touring bikes or full touring bikes you are gonna get really worn and beat down....

I looked at a 01 900ss yesterday it was pretty good,going to check out the 01 M900 tomorrow ,pretty keen on that so that could be where my cash is going

Only in the US mate... Most other places, it's duke....

And you guys can't even pronounce it properly anyways....
