I am having an internal debate... I like the interior and hatchback feature of the Matrix, but it has about 27k+ miles on it. My other option is a used '09 Corolla from a rental dealership with like 10k miles, and a few extra options...

Just looking for opinions... Which one would be better for the buck, and retain value, etc. (Don't need info on gas mileage or safety... it's just a hard decision based on older-more miles-nicer interior vs new-fewer miles - okay interior)

Thanks in advance guys

They are both Corollas as 1 is corolla matrix and other, well Corolla. do not buy rental though as have been abused mostly. they hold same value and is choice of more room in matrix as cost same.

You'd have to be a fool to buy either one. First of all, it makes no sense at all to buy a used compact Toyota that's only a year old. You're still playing plenty of money for a secondhand car that's just basic transportation! Why would you want to do that? You're better off paying a little extra for a brand new one, or getting a slightly older used car but that's a significant improvement like a 2004 or 2005 model Accord or Camry or something.

Also, the quality of new Toyotas isn't what it used to be, they've gotten rather complacent lately. In fact the new Corolla basically sucks, my friend has the S model and it's got a serious paint problem, not to mention the ride and handling are both terrible. Look at the other Japanese competition if you really don't want to buy American. Sorry if this sounded harsh. Hope it helped though
