I have a 3100 and want to view the pay per view sens vs. leafs game this Thursday. However, I am visiting another location that has BEV but will not buy the game (lack of phone line). Can I buy the game today on my 3100 at home then bring my 3100 and plug it into their sat system on Thursday? Is the phone line required once the order is placed or just before the game?

Thanks in advance.

you can buy the game without a phone line through bells automated service.

but you shouldn't have a problem buying the game as you have outlined

You don't have to bring in your receiver...

You have 2 options: Call 1-866-686-7337 or go on the bell.ca web site to place your order

Also by EV rules if you take your receiver out to go somewhere else you must call in to deactivate all the other receivers that will stay home. When you unplug the receiver it is very possible that your receiver will loose the memory of the channels you suscribe to, forcing you to call in to reset it or to go on line and reset it

The option described by the OP is valid, so he has more than 2 options. It all depends on which account he ultimately wants the charge to show up on. If the home owner he is visiting is willing, then the website or calling in to order is certainly the easiest, but it is not the only option.

Unless unplugged for a few days (at least) the unit will not lose programming. Authorization is stored on the CAM, not in the EEPROM or NVRAM. At most, there will be a short delay while the encryption keys roll.

The other day I unplugged my 3100 for a day and when I hooked it back I had to resyncronize...

Not that it matters, but I am sure you are confusing authorisation with key changes. The programming would not have expired on your CAM within 24 hours (impossible) but the encryption keys likely would have rolled. Within 20 minutes without doing anything on your part the picture should have returned.

The difference between the two is lost on the average user. If your programming expires, the channels show as red in the guide (these too often automatically return within 48 hours on units that have been unplugged for EXTENDED periods). If your keys did not roll (short term) then the channels show as available in the guide but you don't get a decrypted image until the next key roll (usually 15-20 minutes maximum).

We are planning on doing this for the next UFC fight, so just wondering we likely should order at the real box owners house then move the box. Im just wonding if the phoneline will f things up or not.
