Butterfly Effect

Either BatmanBegan edited the offending post, or the moRAB took it out.

I can't actually remember which user spoiled it for me but it had to be BatmanBegan because he posted around 30 minutes after I asked about where I could see it plus for people to avoid spoiling it for me, and 15 minutes before my 'angry' post. His post is sandwitched in between so it could only have been him. If there was another post after his then I would've 'quoted' the offending post. I didn't, so it must have been him.

Still very annoyed.

This is a great film but many people seem to dislike it. I can't really work out why! I was confused when I bought the DVD because the ending was different, but I don't know which one I prefer. The cinema one is subtly incredibly sad, whereas the DVD one is shocking and disturbing. Both good in their own right.

I hate the director's cut ending - is that the one in the womb? I bought the DVD and was so disappointed that it has that ending that I downloaded the theatrical version from a torrent site - something I don't really agree with, except in this case it's the only way to get hold of the proper version! Plus I consider that I'd paid for it by buying the DVD.

I saw this the other day on Sky as well and I was very impressed with it. It was very intense and quite disturbing in places. Those poor kiRAB seemed to be really messed up.

After all the bad alternate lives, I was quite relieved to see that things turned out OK, but also a little disappointed as it had a typical Hollywood "everything's alright in the end" ending.

So it's very interesting to know that there are alternate endings to the movie. Maybe the original ending didn't go down well with preview audiences, so they changed it. I hate the way Hollywood does that; they should just leave things as they are. What would Easy Rider have been like if they'd have just rode off on their bikes at the end of the film?

If I hadn't seen Butterfly Effect I wouldn't even enter a thread labelled 'Butterfly Effect'. I always avoid threaRAB for movies that I plan to see but have never seen.

There are various posts in here that contain spoilers.

Surely that is a spolier for anyone who hasn't seen the ending of the movie?

"Unoriginal?" How many films have you seen that are similar to BE?

I personally think it's an excellent movie, and really makes you think about the decisons you make in life and how your life would turn out different.

Time travel and changing events... hmmm.. let me see...

Back to the Future, Timeline, Frequency, Donnie Darko, Terminator, 12 Monkeys, to name but a few.

I cringed with embarrassment at a lot of the lines such as the hideous use of ****bag in the scenes with George; the bit about the new tricks in bed; the whole "i've lost you once" crap; the bit about being there and having done that with the dynamite.. oh I could go on.

It was cliched and horrible.

IMO of course, and is one of the least intelligent films I've seen in a long time.

I love the original Butterfly Effect, its the only film i can actually stand Ashton Kutcher in, and i have to say i thought his acting was pretty good to be fair.

Avoid the direct to DVD Butterfly Effect 2 though, its just a lame retread. The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelation is pretty good though, the story is quite different to the first 2. I think its out on DVD over here next month sometime, its well worth at least a rental.

I think I've found two entries for the:

"Dumbest Post / Outrageous Troll of the year"

I won't tell you who they are... that would ruin the suprise :D

Brilliant film, in my media class when asked about their favourite films nearly half the class said The Butterfly Effect. I don't know why the reviews were so poor. Strange. Maybe it was just the snobby journo's being cynical about Kutcher in a serious film?
