Butterfly Effect

Wow, i saw this film last night and thought it was amazing. Very thought provoking. I actually watched it again as i enjoyed it so much.

I recently checked out the critics reviews for it and they were all poor, while viewers actually rated highly. Just wondered what everyones view was on this superb film?

I really love this film. I prefer the theatrical ending to the director's cut ending though but unfortunately even though the alternative endings are on the dvd, they are not in full and there's no option of watching the film with the different ending.

Very very good film though. :)

I saw The Butterfly Effect in the cinema and really enjoyed it. However the ending in the cinema version is appartently different to the one on the DVD released over here. Does anybody know why they changed the ending?

Yeah I played that game, it was pretty funny and kinda weird

Anyway, with all this talk of spoilers for The Butterfly Effect the ending on my DVD showed....THIS IS A HUGE SPOILER...ONLY READ IF YOU DONT CARE ;)

Ashton as a baby in his mother's womb strangling himself on his umbilical cord so he was never born truly shocking but I think a better ending than the cinema one

I actually wanted ask if the DVD you saw is Region 1 (US) and if they show the alternate ending fully. When I clicked on the quote button, the quote actually shows the spoiler you put in! :) I caught part of the first line only. Not your fault, just the result of the way the 'quote' system works. :)

So is the DVD you saw the Region 1 (US) and do they show the alternate ending fully?

Thanks. :)

I love this film, I hadn't read too much about it before watching it and ended up watching it twice. I would recommend Donnie Darko as well if you likes Butterfly Effect.

I heard the ending on the DVD is what was originally going to be the ending but the film studios thought it was too dark and disturbing and wanted a happier ending so they shot what was the cinema ending.

I believe both endings can be seen in full on the R1 DVD but alas they can't on the R2 version. In the alternative ending part on the DVD they just show a short clip but don't show the whole clip.

Sorry about the quotey thing, mate!! :o

My BE DVD is the Directors Cut and its Region 2 and the ending is the only ending on the disc - it doesn't even have the cinema version (and I've checked the special features :D )

Its as if the cinema ending never existed on my version

I remember watching the DVD the first time and thinking "Hang on! I dont remember that bit happening, OR that bit"

i thought this film was excellent, i actually had to watch it twice to understand it all, i wanted my frienRAB to all watch it too, i thought it was really good, and got me thinking!

its been a while since i watched it, but i'd definatly recommend it ;)

put this over not to spoil it, but me been as soft as i am, i was getting upset when the girl (cant remeber her name) kept having her life changed. i thought it was awful how she went from having the best life with him, to when she was a junkie hooker in a tiny scruffy beRABit, i dont know why it upset me but it did!

I saw the ending where he (Ashton Kutcher) comes across the woman after a few months or years, stops for a few seconRAB and then carries on walking because he doesn't want to risk ruining her life (heartbreaking). Which ending is this? The DVD or the Cinema ending? I don't know as my friend 'acquired' it just before I ordered the DVD so I thought I might aswell watch it.

*I don't want to know what the alternate ending(s) is/are, but just if I saw the DVD or Cinema ending.

What do you mean by: "In the alternative ending part on the DVD they just show a short clip but don't show the whole clip." Short clip? They don't show the ending of the scene then?

Apart from ordering the R1 version, anyone know how I could see the alternate ending to the one where he (Ashton Kutcher) carries on walking?

Thanks a lot.

Like Constantine, I would also recommend Donnie Darko if you like The Butterfly Effect. Someone said that in a review/forum I read and I thoroughly enjoyed Donnie Darko as a result - I now own it, the Directors' Cut 2-disc version. :)

Soapbubbles - I think the cinema ending is shown as part of the alternative endings but only a brief clip is shown and I think it cuts off
before Ashton follows Kayleigh (the girl)
. :)

Thank you for spoiling it!

Why couldn't you have posted a spoiler like lillipoppins did?

You've completely ruined it for me. I am not happy at all because I loved this movie and was really looking forward to seeing the alternate ending. I really want to swear, but I don't want to get banned.

All I asked was WHICH ending is the one I saw, the DVD or cinema one.

Unbelievable.
