Busted Y pipe

I have only had this 2003 Road King for about a month. It has 16k miles on it now. I rode it 35 miles saturday, parked it for four hours, then went to leave. Got to the first stop sign and took off then things started sounding odd. I looked down and saw my muffler hanging by the pipe wrap. Luckily they were wrapped or it would have dropped all the way to the ground. I can only imagine what kind of problems that would have created.

So what are my options? I am low on cash right now so looking for cheap....I know nothing about welding so not sure if this could be welded until I can get something different. I could buy stock off Ebay for less than $100. I also came across Fullsac.com for $189 plus S&H. Any other options for under $200?
 
Just a guess, but I bet they had wrapped that pipe to cover up the crack and leak before you bought it. Why it cracked would be the question. I hear people on here talk about broken front motor mounts a lot, so maybe that caused it or the muffler bracket had broke or came loose allowing the muffler to swing around for a while. Check ebay, I would think there would be numerous exhaust systems for sale on there from take offs for other exhausts. Just have then send you pics of all the pipes, especially the 2 Y locations so you can see if there are cracks there already. Also, make sure the pipes are the ones prior to the oxygen sensor, or you will need something to plug the holes with.
 
coworker had his break at 14K. He found area dealers had 2 or 3 in stock. His bike is stock through out, and replaced it himself. Like Guntote said, check motor mounts and use e-bay, maybe negate the Y pipe. I like the system on mine and plan on keeping for as long as it looks good, no yellow on chrome anywhere after heat shields and have 20K on pipes.
 
Will the pipes from an '06 work on an '03? If so I will buy them mtclassic

I will check the motor mounts tonight. I like the look and sound of the Fullsac but $$$ are a little short right now.
 
I had the same problem with my old Glide and found a cheap replacement. Later I used a Fullsac and it worked so well I now have a completely new true dual setup. I think either of your options above should work for you. Here's to better times!
