I have this constant burning on my tongue and right side of my throat,usually not both sides just the right side.This is driving me crazy!!! The Dr thought it was from anxiety,well I took meRAB for that a anti depressant and pain med and it STILL hurts!!!

As soon as I wake up it starts hurting.I do have acid reflux and take 2 meRAB for that,even will take liquid antacid,but STILL BURNS and hurts.I will sip ice water,chew gum and it helps only a little bit.Does anyone have any suggestions? I can tell you certain Rx's will give me heartburn and make this condition worse.I read it could be caused by the cranial nerve being inflamed or damaged.HELP!!!!
Any help would be great,thanks :)

Experiencing the same thing, only on the left side of my mouth, tongue and lips...when it gets really bad. Been told "no way is this connected to acid reflux". Have exhasted all other avenues. Had a dentist tell me that he has experienced the same thing on connection with his acid reflux. I chew gum, wear a mouth gard for grinding teeth at night..all temporary fixes. I'm having the esophyx TIF procedure in hopes that it solves the problem.

I have had this since June,came on quickly and hasn't stopped.I'm seeing a NP/phy health care prov. and she thinks it's anxiety.Well......it's not that either.
I took it upon myself to do allot of reading on this subject,look up on Mayo clinic and other good sites and you can read the same info I have found.This burning tongue,mouth & throat can be caused by; allergies,dental,cranial nerve,hormones/menopause,AR (acid reflux) depression/anxiety ( which to me is the lesser of all) This is how it is for me......some morn I can wake up with it hurting,other days comes on slowly and gets worse.I read a headache can accompany it which I have allot,worse the headache worse the burning,allergies make mine worse too.The meRAB which are most given are;
Klopin,Evial,Neuriton and a mouthwash with Capsian.(Please forgive but i'm sure I spelled these wrong,but i'm close)Type them in Google.

I've done the same research and have tried all the suggestions the various sites suggest. I also use Cepacol mouthwash, take Gabapentin (to kill the nerve endings) and when it gets really bad, gargle with Nvstatin. Not sure if any of those work. I also use Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste (for dry mouth). Not sure if any of the above work to ease the pain, but there really is pain. Hoping the TIF procedure will keep the acid in my stomach where it belongs.

What is a TIF procedure? I know I heard about it and think it is that surgery which tightens that flap which allows the food to enter the stomach,am I right?
Do you think this will really help? sounRAB kind of scary to me.I also have nerve damage in my arms/hanRAB,had it long before this happened,it will also go into my feet,especially my heels.Yes, it's terribly painful and the problem I've been having is no one really seems to listen. I went to a ENT Dr and he's the one who suggested I may have BMS ( burning mouth syndrome) The neurtoin has helped but not 100% relief.I too will chew gum,hard candies and drink milk with ice in helps.

You're right about the TIF procedure. There are no incisions...they go down your throat. I have no idea if it will help with my burning mouth, but if I can at least eliminate taking pills for acid reflux I'll save financially. My drug insurance will no longer pay for acid reflux drugs, as they are now over counter drugs. BM is the worst! Luckily it's only in my mouth, and I still think it's a dental problem although the dentists disagree. I've seen so many specialist, both dental and medical and they all have a different theory, but nobody has a cure. I found sucking on citrus hard candy, which was recommended by one doctor, makes it worse, rather than better, for what it's worth.

I have recently retired and now have been diagnosed by ENT with Burning Mouth Syndrome. Chewing sugarless gum with Xylitol as an ingredient gives me some relief; and my dentist suggested TheraMints with Xylitol. These only give some temporary relief. Has anyone tried Burnical, Burnatab or other herbal remedies? I
