Burning nerve root endings????

I just had my 3rd epidural,last week.
They have helped,but im still om meRAB.I've had my epiduarls
@ a pain clinic.The Dr. said the next step would be to
go in &burn the nerve enRAB to block
the censor going to my brain!!!
I don't know about all of this!!!
Has anybody ever had this procedure?
Doesn't burning mean fusing?

Hi! Did your doctor mention radiofrequency nerve burning? I have had this done, and it has helped a lot. But, it is to block pain at the facet joints around the disc, so you have to be sure your pain is coming from the joints, not the disc. Usually your doctor will test your joints to make sure the procedure will work before he does it. It has helped me, since I have bad arthritis in my joints (L3, L4 and L5). Kera4

He did mention the radio frequency nerve burning.
How long has it lasted?
I just would like to be able to get
off the medications&light duty @ work(which I've been on since oct.)

Hi! For me the RFA lasts 8 months; I know this is about average although some get up to a year's relief. For me it has made a huge difference in my pain levels and how long I can sit. Also, I am not taking as many pain killers. It takes 1-2 weeks to fully recover from the procedure. You can still go through your day, but I need to take more breaks to ice/rest during the recovery period. Take care, Kera4
