Burn on end of thumb won't heal

I have had a burn mark on the end of my thumb for almost a year. It became infected and I finally took care of it myself and drained it. My husband was saying because I didn't drain it that it just sat there in my finger for so long,t he pus couldn't drain, it had no where to go so therefore it couldn't heal. He says I just need to give it time, because I burnt my thumb over and over in the same spot multiple times and just kept making the burn worse. I was having to light a really poorly malfunctioning gas stove that we had everytime i cooked and when I would light the burner I'd always burn my thumb. Well it must have beeen very deep because a lot of pus came out, very thick and white, (sorry don't mean to gross you out). But I didn't think so much could come out of a fingertip. I was boiling it out with peroxide and warm salt water, keeping it bandaged with a bandaid and neosporin.
Well, I thought it was healed but it started getting sore again the other day and the tiny hole I made to drain it, opened it back up and a little more came out. It doesn't want to heal but I can't go to the doctor no money no insurance.
Should I just keep doing the peroxide and salt water? I hadn't been putting a bandaid and neosporin on it because I thought it had healed and just thinking I got dirt or something in it and it became re-infected.

Personally I think that you need an antibiotic to get that totally gone. Right now you have an infection that isn't clearing up-and it probably won't without an antibiotic because it has gone so long. You don't want to get this in your system any father than it is already. I would go to the county health department if nothing else. They should have a clinic that you can go to. good luck!

An infection that chronic and deep can lead to bone infection, and that's big trouble. BIG trouble that can lead to amputation. You must find a way to see a doctor and get a prescription antibiotic. Many Walgreen's stores or other chain drugstores have walk-in clinics where you can get reasonably priced treatment. Or the public health clinic as mentioned above.

Wishing you well.
