Burn Bridgestone Burn!

Better make sure the marathons are germain made, not Brazilian and blackwalls. Make sure you investigate "Metzeler Concerns" (complete with photos) before you purchase. I too was convinced initially, until complete sidewall failure at 600 miles. Good Luck
Never again for me and many others with similar complaints.

I'm about ready to do this with my Bridgestones right now...and I've only got a thousand miles on them.

Freaking tires are terrible. I find my rear tire skidding when stopping and it just doesn't feel good on the lean...like it could go out at any time. When it rains...it's really not safe to ride. Nothing at all like the IRC's it came with.

The only good news is that they're wearing really fast.

I thought the bridgestone was pretty good. Good grip and good wear. The 240/55/16 that came with the bike was especially made for this bike. I was gonna replace it with the same but it was back-ordered so I put the marathon on and filled it with nitrogen and so far i like it a lot. Time will tell though. I gotta say though that I'm not too impressed with the front bridgestone. It's pretty much down to the wear bars also and you would usually get almost twice the wear out of the front. a marathon will be going on the front as well.

My stones have been good for me. I have 10K on the rear and by the looks of it I still have 4 or 5K superslab miles left on it. It sticks in the corners, does not slide out in the rain and handles fairly decent. I decided this week that next season I will replace them with another set of blackwall stones.

I thought when I was at 9k, i would get 14 to 15 k outta mine, but that last 2 k knocked the snot outta mine. That second half of tread wear goes a helluva lot faster than the first. In my case it went real fast.

odd... got the ME880s next time, you won't be disappointed... better than the stock IRCs

sweet burnout cameo... is that fire i see on the last picture?? :)

I was at first really concerned with the width of the 240 and how it would handle in rain, but it's been awesome. Handles like %%%% on gravel mind you.
:P

What did adding the nitrogen do for the handling and wear?

Well Loki, We,re gonna find out. I have 1k with nitro on the back so far and just changed my front today. The tires call for 42 lbs cold so I put 40 lbs of nitro in both today and it feels good but we'll see what happens. I've heard good things though. In the meantine here's a pic of a little scenery on a ride last month in Nova Scotia. Anybody guess where this was?
