Buried

He was only 3ft or so under the ground, hence the mobile signal being relatively strong (he did lose it at one or two points though). He didn't have the lighter on throughout the whole film, he used those luminous bar things and a torch too as well as his phone. And presumably his captors left him a phone with enough credit on so that he could make a fuss about his disappearance, creating a fuss was their end game so it wouldn't have made sense for them to leave him a phone with no credit.

As for the snake, it's screenwriting 101 to put your characters in as much peril as possible to keep the storyline interesting. I personally thought that the snake was a highlight.
 
Well if none of this was included it would just be RR in a box doing absolutely nothing.

You could have this problem with nearly all films. For example with Inception you could say "why didn't Michael Caine fly his kiRAB to DiCaprio" weell if that happened there would be no goddamn film.

Anyway I thought it was a really good film. Although there was nothin after the credits
 
Having had a look on Imdb's message boarRAB, it seems that the post credits scene is:

A close up on the name "Mark White" written in Paul's coffin after it has collapsed. Although there is a possible theory that it was written on the coffin of the guy who's grave was found at the end of the movie and that the guy on the phone was lying to Paul all along and that the "story" of Mark White is told to everyone who is buried alive to give them hope.
 
I'm torn with this movie.

I went to see it a few nights ago, my OH didn't like it. He thought it was boring.

I knew going into it that it was 90 minutes of a guy in a box so my expectations weren't too high. The thing is though...had i known that this film was set
in Iraq
i don't think i would have bothered going.

Not because it was a bad movie or anything...it just left me a little disturbed leaving the cinema knowing that that probably happens everyday.

It was really well acted and i liked it as a movie but i can't say i enjoyed it. The part that got me...

aside from the ending was when his employers fired him. I actually nearly cried

and i am not an emotional person.
 
Nothing too bad but for people who want to know nothing don't look at this.

Ermmm (I think) he has lmited light resources like a low battery torch, lighter, glowsticks. He has 90 minutes of air and a cell phone with tiny reception and tiny battery. He recieves calls from his captors and also tries to phone the police.
 
I'm not suggesting that Paul shouldn't have a mobile phone (with excellent reception/good battery) or a lighter (which lasts for as long as it does) etc. It's merely a small point about realism. Perhaps if his lighter had run out of fuel and once the torch is broken he's reliant on the mobile phone light knowing it has limited life. I would concede the point about the phone credit (because this benefits the captor) but I'm still not sure on the rest.

Just my thoughts really.

Apparently it's close up of the box showing the 'Mark White' which Paul had written and put in a box.
I didn't see it as I'd already left the cinema :o
 
Saw this today, and thought it was very good, gripping. As tense and 'close' as everything is in the box, everything gets worse in the last 5 / 10 minutes, I even got short of breath and I have no claustrophobia in me at all! Very cleverly done.
 
Just got back from seeing it - really enjoyed it and certainly one of the best films this year................but...............just found it in parts a little unrealistic - but even so thought it was good and would see again.
 
It looks good, but the subject is one of my worst fears. I wouldn't be able to watch it so I read the script online last week.
 
I liked it. It should have been crap giving it's one bloke in a box and little more happening. But it certainly had me on the edge of my seat.

As for the ending, saw it coming a mile off.

I hope Ryan plays more straight parts, although I've just started watching The Proposal again and he is so good at comedy as well
 
No I went in expecting a horror but it was more of an intense thriller/drama.

Basically he's been buried alive but has been buried with a mobile phone. He uses it to communicate with people and try to escape.

It's worth going to see, like I said I was gripped until the end which is something considering it's a one person film!
 
I'm slightly nervous about seeing this as I can get slightly claustrophibic. I felt really uncomfortable during the scene in Kill Bill 2 when she's buried alive.
I may wait until it comes out on DVD to watch. It sounRAB really interesting though.
 
Yes it really is a film about a man trapped in a box for 90 minutes. And no, his name isn't Jack. ;)

It's really a throwback to a time when studios were happy for the likes of Hitchcock to push what they could do in telling a story on film. Sadly no-one in Hollywood today cares, as long as their film makes the moolah.

Considering that ReynolRAB is in shot for the entire film (and for that reason, it's easy to say he's the best thing in it!) he and the director to a great job of holding the attention of an audience for so long. There are a few lulls along the way, but overall it's gripping stuff.

Least they didnt give him a Nokia.Now with the battery lasting long defintly be unrealstic

Nah not a bad film.Mean you do come out realising you spent an hour and a half watching a man in a box but pretty good hour and a half really
