Bump on finger/palm

Hello! I'm new to this site. I've got a bump on my finger/palm and I've been searching everywhere for info and can't seem to find any that sounds like my problem. Heres my story......I started getting a pain a few days after christmas. It is on my right hand middle finger/palm. Its a very small hard bump. You can't see it but you can feel it. There is no swelling or redness either. I went to the doctors aweek after I noticed it and they just looked at it and said I sprained something and it will go away (very quick appt. I was disappointed). They gave me med. and sent me on my way. A month later I went back to the doctors and said its still here, the med. doesn't work. It hasn't got bigger, still no swelling or redness, but still hurts. They looked at it again and said its probably a benign tumor. The gave me no med. this time and just told me to monitor it. Well now.......It is hurting even worse!!!! It hasn't got bigger, still no swelling or redness. So I made another appt. (April 10th) My doctor now says that it could be a ganglion cyst (this is said through email). So I've been told 3 different things now, what should I believe? Could anyone help me out with this?
