Okay, so I've been wanting to make my own aquarium decor to save money and to give myself more theme options in respect to decorating my tanks. I was thinking of building them with a clay of some kind, and then coating them with a fish-safe glaze to both waterproof them and make it so nothing in the clay will harm my fish.
Problem is, I don't know of any fish-safe glazes.
So my question is first, does anyone know of anything I could use to coat the clay structures that would waterproof it and make it safe for fish? Secondly, if there is no such glaze, does anyone know of a specific kind of clay or other medium I could use to build safe structures?
I know it may seem like more of an arts-and-crafts question, so I may ask it in another area as well, but I figured maybe someone in the Fish forum would have either built their own successfully in the past, or knows of some way it can be done.
Thanks in advance!
